Our clients have just started recruitment for a Supplier Quality Engineer on a contract basis in Scotland.

The role of the Quality Engineer is to provide technical Quality Engineering leadership to the business in order to ensure the highest levels of product quality, process, and systems integrity to the customer.

Some Responsibilities include:

  • Has a planning outlook out to the next quarter
  • Translates given tactics and measures into actions, independently.
  • May participate in goal setting.
  • Leads simple projects within own function. Contributes to cross functional or global projects.
  • Proactive. Identifies opportunities for improvements in own area of work.
  • Makes decisions based on data. Technically proficient.
  • Escalates issues as appropriate.
  • Is recognized as a Subject Matter Expert for a narrow defined area of responsibility.

Design

  • Works with product development teams to ensure materials are appropriately qualified and fit for both customer needs and manufacturability.

Operations

  • Leads day-to-day support of operations and operations quality for supplier related escalations.
  • Works with business partners and suppliers to ensure product quality and compliance to the quality systems.
  • Leads activities such as defect reduction initiatives, quality metric improvements, root cause analysis, problem solving.
  • Support supplier activities related to transfer of product design to suppliers and into operations.
  • Participates in activities related to transfer of product design into operations
  • Drives others to use Plan-Do-Check-Act and other established problem-solving methods.
  • Supports/leads supplier validation and capability initiatives at supplier

Quality System

  • Understands the breadth of the quality system. monitoring, risk management activities.
  • Supports and drives improvements to supplier quality systems
  • Trains others in quality systems, tools and objectives.

General

  • Participates in and leads activities within the quality system such as: change control, design control, NC, CAPA, supplier monitoring, risk management activities.

Qualifications

Essential:

•             Degree in applicable discipline e.g. Engineering or Life Sciences degree with experience in a manufacturing environment or suitable experience

•             Formal Problem solving techniques, e.g. PeX Green Belt

 Desirable:

•             Chartered Engineer / Scientist

•             Advanced Formal Problem solving techniques, eg PeX Black Belt

•             ASQ CQE certification or equivalent

•             Experience in a manufacturing
