Job Description:


Reporting into the Programme Director, the full time Mechanical Design Engineer will be based at either their London or Manchester office.  The successful candidate will have proven experience with boiler plant room and steam systems and ideally have hands-hand experience of project ownership from conception through to delivery.  





  • End-to-end development of mechanical designs.  
  • Research and develop products
  • Improve production processes - such as those in large plants, or services within buildings
  • Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability
  • Develop a project specification, often including those from other engineering disciplines
  • Develop and use new materials and technologies
  • Manage people, projects and resources
  • Develop, test and evaluate concepts/prototype designs
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with sub-contractors, suppliers and customers
  • Make sure a design can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques
  • Produce details of specifications and outline designs
  • Recommend modifications following prototype test results
  • Use research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly those in 3d modelling and computer-aided design
  • Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints
  • Monitor and commission plant and systems.





  • Permanent right to work in UK.  
  • HND in Mechanical Engineering            
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an Commercial environment or experience in Energy or SME business
  • Product Types - Boiler Plant or Steam Systems
  • Design Control Processes forming part of a Quality Management System.
