Senior Electronics Engineer

Our client is a established Biotechnology Company with headquarters in Manchester UK. Founded on ground-breaking research in epithelial stem cell biology, they have evolved into a dynamic and successful enterprise enabling advances in medicine through the provision of innovative services and pioneering products. Our Client is looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer who will play a leading role within the Operations Group in hardware development and engineering support. Focusing primarily on engineering design and validation of our client’s instrument and electronic subsystems; the Senior Electronics Engineer will also assist the engineering team in other aspects of embedded software development and mechanical design aspects. They will report to Senior Operations Manager.



  • Become our clients Subject Matter Expert in electronics design from concept and prototyping through to Design for Manufacturing (DFM), EMC compliance and finished product manufacturing.
  • Create robust, high-level product designs that will optimise usability, manufacturability, reliability and cost-of-goods for commercial realisation.
  • Act as technical lead on hardware verification and validation activities.
  • Provide investigation and root-cause analysis services for hardware-related technical issues.
  • Support Software Engineers on existing and future product development activities.
  • Provide technical support to hardware-related discussions between the clients business divisions, key suppliers and development partners.
  • Conduct directed research and development of hardware, consumable design and ancillary equipment/software applications.
  • Steer whole product lifecycle maintenance and improvement activities.








Electronic design for EMC compliance

PCB design, build and functional level validation experience with STM/ ARM7/9/ Cortex processors. Experience with debugging multiprocessor devices

Develop moderately complex C#, C++ embedded software, testing/ debugging/ validation.

Integrated Functional level validation/ testing

The ability to manage multiple strands of diverse activity simultaneously; applying a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion

Self-directed technical project management with minimal supervision

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work and communicate with a diverse range of other expertise

Medical/ IVD electronics design. Maintenance of design history, design control and version control to ISO13485

Thermal/ optical electronics design experience

Low level signal processing experience using DSPs or CPUs

Experience of Bluetooth hardware development and android device development

CAD/CAM mechanical design and assembly modelling using Solidworks

Experience in line management of junior electronic/ software engineers



Masters degree in Electronic Engineering +5 years industry experience of taking a CE-marked product from idea to manufacturing.
