On behalf of our clients who work at the interface of engineering and cell biology to develop human biomimetic platforms (more commonly known as Organ-on-Chip (OOC) or Microphysiological Systems (MPS) for the testing and development of therapeutics for serious human diseases.


Currently they are seeking a Bioengineering Research Assistant to join a growing R&D capacity. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and growing team in our new, purpose-built premises on the Cambridge Science Park.


This is predominantly a hands-on role with a significant amount of lab/workshop time, the position sits within the multi-disciplinary Bioengineering team and the successful candidate shall therefore also gain direct exposure to the many varied aspects of product R&D.


Key Responsibilities


  • Work within the Bioengineering team on the development and characterisation of Organ-on-Chip systems & other projects
  • Help design, and perform laboratory-/workshop-based testing of product prototypes, providing detailed feedback of results
  • Help analyse, interpret & document results, presenting findings in various formats
  • Build understanding of the company’s core technologies, to trouble shoot and advance designs where desirable
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues & collaborators
  • Complete training where required, and maintain records
  • Work with members of the company’s Health & Safety committee to maintain standards company-wide





  • An undergraduate degree in engineering (mechanical, biomedical, chemical) or the physical/chemical sciences
  • Experience which may include working with bio-/biocompatible-materials, cell culture, bioassays, (bio)MEMS, electrochemistry, (micro)fluidics or product development
  • Exemplary communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Confidence, being friendly, personable, engaging and honest
  • A positive outlook, being a team player willing to get involved and help out where necessary
  • A focused, scientific mindset who is outcome-oriented and has an excellent attention to detail
