The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Research and Development, the R&D manager is responsible for delivering business objectives in relation to new product development, on time and within budget.
Managing a large growing team and product development lifecycle of around 18 months, this role demands a focused leader who has significant experience leading a research and development team. They will ideally come from a medical devices business, however, proven success in delivering commercial, technical products to a highly-regulated standard would be considered.
As a part of the senior leadership team, you can contribute to the definition and planning of the new product development portfolio.
Growing and developing your team of engineers and designers, capitalising on their strengths, developing their skills and nurturing leadership potential. You will encourage a challenging mindset across the business to ensure capabilities are maximised and continuous improvements implemented.
You must be technically credible; an engineering or technical product development background is essential as it the experience of delivering commercially successful products to market.
The position requires a strong leader to take ownership of the NPD delivery, reporting in are exceptional group leaders with considerable experience of NPD within a highly regulated industry and various levels of experience in terms of designers and engineers to form your completed team.

The development and manufacturing site based in Essex, is a key contributor to the company’s portfolio. Boasting a research and development team of 35 multi-disciplinary engineers and designers and a facility fully equipped with the latest computer-aided design and modelling technologies, to enable them to develop medical workstations and fluid management products & accessories, and industrial Remote Visual Inspection devices.
