Title: Mechanical Engineer - regulated industry

Location: Essex, Southend on Sea

Our client invests in their people and the latest equipment and processes to remain at the forefront of manufacturing technology. On their behalf, we are now looking to recruit Mechanical Engineers to work in a multi-disciplinary team of R&D engineers in a facility, fully equipped with the latest computer-aided design and modelling technologies, to enable them to develop medical devices. 

It is important that you enjoy working throughout the product life cycle as you will be expected to develop detailed designs from initial concept ideas, develop a new product and follow up through to manufacturing process of medical devices according to company procedures and regulatory standards (ISO 13485). Use of technical & product knowledge and problem-solving abilities to support other team members and other department along side of performing tolerance analysis, product risk analysis, FMEAs, design reviews, value analysis and quality incident investigations. Additionally, you are expected to compile technical documentation to support the design process and assist with the management of work packages for new product development & product improvement projects.

 Do you have...

  • Degree/HNC/ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Applied knowledge and experience of good design practice & engineering change control
  • Applied knowledge and experience of mechanical engineering principles, eg material, structures, thermal analysis, fluid analysis
  • Applied knowledge and experience of variety of manufacturing processes, eg machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, casting and extruding are essential
  • Experience from within the Medical Device field and Regulatory standards ISO13485, ISO14971, ISO60601, ISO62366 would be an advantage, however, is not pre-requested; all highly regulated industry experience is valued
  • High familiarity with 3D CAD and associated analysis tools, SolidWorks literate to expert level
  • Experience of Microsoft Office and Product Data Management (PDM) systems
