Our client is a medical device company developing a novel, electromechanical medical device designed to detect kidney reflux in children. Their vision is to be ‘the method of choice for screening and monitoring kidney reflux in children, enhancing patient experience and clinical outcomes’.


The Director of R&D will be an active member of the senior management team and will drive technical, innovation and intellectual property strategies for the company. This will require exploration of novel signal processing methods, sensor design optimisation, and system validation.


We are looking for a candidate that exhibits proactive technical leadership, is a team player, that can manage international third-party suppliers and OEMs and contribute to the company’s IP portfolio.


You will require up to date knowledge of technological advancements in Biosensors, Electrical Impedance Tomography (E.I.T) and potential innovative solutions that will drive continuous product improvement.


Areas of Responsibility:

· System design, development and documentation

· Manufacturing of product for verification and validation

· Test method development and design verification and validation testing

· Project timelines and budget

· Selection and engagement with suppliers and OEMs

· Design control, both internally and throughout the supply chain

· The engineering team

· Communication to company management and the Board


You will need:

· A minimum of 10 years technical/engineering experience in electromechanical medical device development with 5 years in a leadership role

· Excellent knowledge of signal processing, sensor design and system validation

· Degree in Electronic Engineering
