Our client, a manufacturer of assistive technology to the healthcare sector, is looking to recruit a Development Engineer. Overview of the position

The successful candidate will use their skills to develop assistive technology to various Directives and Standards including MDD, EN12182, EN60601, BS8474 etc. They will learn the process of developing a Class 1 medical device from concept to ready for sale. The candidate will become part of the Innovation department. The Innovation department is a passionate team designing and developing medical devices.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a new concept and manage through to production
  • Create 3D CAD models of the concept in partnership with a Senior Design Engineer
  • Produce working drawings and liaise with suppliers regarding specifications and best utilisation of machinery
  • Develop the risk management file in partnership with the SDE and the compliance manager.
  • Implementation of Risk Control Measures.
  • Create BOMs.
  • Manage raw material specifications/finishes during product development
  • Manage product labelling and packaging design
  • Manage production of prototypes
  • Manage bench testing complete test reports

Existing Product management

  • Create drawings to communicate with suppliers and to facilitate the work of QC.
  • Modify existing, or create new, 3D model sand 2D drawings in order to implement Engineering Change Notes.
  • Revise and update existing 3D models and 2D drawings reflecting design changes.
  • Review and maintain technical file and risk management. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, Bio Engineering Degree, Product Design Engineering Degree or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 5 years’ post grad experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in production of technical drawings.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • 3D and 2D CAD skills.
  • Solidworks skills.
