12-month Contract, based in Leeds

The role will drive the design of customised implants and instruments, to deliver design solutions for the Made to Order (MTO) business unit, using the latest technologies and delivering to results-oriented lead times to meet both customer and business requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and case management of patient-specific hip CNC and 3D printed solutions and custom-made implants & instruments

• Builds 3D CAD models using Unigraphics, and 2D drawings

• Builds Custom Design Rationale & Risk Documentation for each project

• Presents finished designs and works with R&D functions to risk assess patient cases

• Utilises expertise in finite element analysis, and other engineering calculation tools to prove sizing, materials, and specifications prior to machine fabrication.

• Liaises with workshop employees to ensure designs can be manufactured

• Liaises with  Account Managers throughout each project

• Compiles documentation for Case History File (CHF) in line with device Regulations

 

This function involves multifunctional working with:

• Regulatory

• US Customs Team

 

Qualifications Education:

Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, and Product Design.

 

Experience and Skills: • Experience in the medical device industry, including detailed knowledge of the processes and equipment used in implant and instrument manufacturing

• Applied knowledge of 3D CAD systems

• Understanding of design standards and practices (ISO and ASME) • Understanding of General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

• Experience of working in a highly regulated, industry

• Practical knowledge of GMP subject areas

• Accomplished IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, databases - typical office applications

• Experience of project management and problem solving
