On behalf of our clients who work at the interface of engineering and cell biology to develop human biomimetic platforms (more commonly known as Organ-on-Chip (OOC) or Microphysiological Systems (MPS) for the testing and development of therapeutics for serious human diseases.


Currently they are seeking a Bioengineer to join their growing R&D capacity. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and growing team in our new, purpose-built premises on the Cambridge Science Park


This is a multi-disciplinary role positioned in the dedicated Bioengineering team, providing an opportunity to collaborate closely with the Biology & Product Development teams.



Key Responsibilities


  • Champion (multi) Organ-on-Chip development projects from conception to late-stage prototyping
  • Contribute expertise to bioengineering and to the company’s broader objectives
  • Plan and execute development work, both personally and in guiding others
  • Analyse, interpret & document results, presenting findings in various formats
  • Gain a deep understanding of the company’s core technologies & identify areas for advance
  • Work closely with Commercial & Biology functions to develop designs fit for purpose
  • Work closely with Product Dev. to ensure designs are amenable to manufacture
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues & the wider community, inc attending & presenting at conferences and interacting with collaborators & customers
  • Initiate & help strengthen collaborative activities with academic & industrial partners
  • Help ensure staff training is relevant & complete and help generate, review & update company SOP’s
  • Work with members of the company’s Health & Safety committee to maintain standards company-wide
  • Help bolster the company’s Intellectual Property position, contribute to Freedom to Operate and the filing of new patents.





  • A PhD or Master’s degree + experience in Bioengineering or the physical/chemical sciences
  • Core skills which may include bio-materials/bio-compatibility, fluid mechanics, computational modelling and/or (bio)chemical sensing
  • Experience which may include developing or working with/in cell culture, bioassays, (bio)MEMS, product development and/or electrochemistry
  • Exemplary communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Good networking skills, being friendly, personable and engaging, with evidence of building good working relationships with collaborators
  • Credibility and the ability to influence based on sound knowledge
  • A positive outlook, being a team player willing to get involved and help out where necessary
  • A creative, scientific mindset who is outcome-oriented and has an excellent attention to detail
